Branding/ReBranding is what each of you are doing this semester.
You are creating a mark/image/logo for which to build an entire campaign around.
That LOGO is your cornerstone...you get it right and the world is good. You get it wrong and it will be a horrible experience.
How do you get it right? By looking at other branding strategies and work others are doing in graphic design. Creativity doesn't happen in a vacuum. It certainly doesn't happen if you are lazy and most importantly it doesn't happen in PHOTOSHOP and the INTERNET.
You have to be more aggressive and confident in your work and that comes from working hard.
Graphic Design as a profession cannot be something you do from 9-5 or during your class periods. All the really cool and good stuff comes from being inspired outside the classroom. It comes from experimenting and changing how you work or how you view design. It can be subtle or be monsterous. Think about the LOGO you are doing now and does it really expose the business you have chosen. Does your LOGO give back something when you look at it? It literally should "talk back" to you visually. It should share some secret of what the company is about even before you venture into the collateral material.
If you want to work in Graphic Design, then you must put in the time NOW so you can land a great job later.....more importantly, put in the time now and your love for what you want to do will flourish. It will sustain you and nurture you but only if you do the same for it.
Now go get it.
